The Joseph Szabo Project

Joseph Szabo is a teacher, photographer and author. He taught photography and art at Malverne High School on Long Island for 27 years and for over 20 at the International Center of Photogaphy in NYC. His 1978 book, "Almost Grown"featured many of his students, it became a cult calssic in the fashion industry during the 80's and 90's. In 2003 Szabo released "Teenager" a more complete view of adolescents coming of age. His most recent book is "Jones Beach" a forty year exploration of summer at New Yorks most popular beach.

A documentary film by David Khachatorian and George P Pozderec called "The Joseph Szabo Project" is the story of an artist-teacher, and a meditation on the power of the photographic image.
